The Trisha Brown Dance Company undergoes a huge leadership transition when the eponymous founder details her vision for the future of her company in the midst of deteriorating health and then leaves the company. This case study asks the question of how does an organization balance the needs of downsizing while preserving the artistic core? It also presents a more unique layer to the issue of founder’s syndrome as the case examines an organization struggling with how to honor the legacy of a single artist. The case video includes interview footage of Associate Artistic Director Diane Madden.
